Arapahoe, Douglas, and Jefferson Counties have joined forces and created the Collaborative Foster Care Program to recruit, train, certify, and support foster families throughout the metro-Denver area. These families provide care for children who cannot remain safely in their home. On average, there are more than 1,000 children in foster care and 40 children awaiting an adoptive family combined in all three counties at any given time.
Families are needed who can handle the challenging parenting situations and commit to being "on duty" all day, every day, to foster. These families must be able to provide for each child unconditionally and know that even when they do not feel appreciated, they are helping to prevent future cycles of abuse, and giving a child hope.
