Health First Colorado

Health First Colorado

In Colorado, Medicaid is now known as Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program). Health First Colorado is public health insurance for low-income Coloradans who qualify. While the name and look have changed, member eligibility, benefits, and choice of providers will remain the same.

*If you received a letter from Health Care Policy and Financing entitled “Update on benefit termination” and have questions about Health First Colorado or CHP+ benefits or billing, please call the Member Contact Center at 1-800-221-3943 (State Relay: 711) Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

If you believe you are eligible for benefits through Health First Colorado or CHP+, you should reapply to find out.

You may reapply for benefits online at Colorado.gov/PEAK, or by visiting your county Department of Human Services. Most people who apply online will find out if they are eligible and can begin receiving benefits that same day.*

BENEFIT CHANGES

The end of the nation-wide Public Health Emergency (PHE) will present many Jefferson County residents with unique challenges as we navigate the loss of benefits put in place by the federal government to support residents and families amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. Benefits that will be impacted in the coming weeks and months include the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP food benefits) and Medicaid benefits. For resources, see the Community Resources Page.

Children’s Health Plan Plus

Children’s Health Plan Plus (CHP+) is a low-cost health insurance program for eligible children and pregnant women who do not qualify for Health First Colorado.
