Old Age Pension

The State Old Age Pension (OAP) program provides financial assistance to low-income Colorado resident adults, 60 years of age or older. Medical benefits (Medicaid or the Old Age Pension Health Care Program) may also be provided to eligible OAP recipients. Depending on the age of the applicant, application for Social Security benefits may be required as part of the eligibility determination.

Get Started

Our office must receive a completed Application for Assistance, including:

  • Proof of expenses
  • Proof of income and resources
  • Proof of lawful presence and a signed affidavit for applicants 18 years and older
  • Social Security numbers for all individuals applying for assistance

Once the application is received, an interview is scheduled with an Intake Program Specialist to determine eligibility. At the interview, it will be determined if further verification is required. Recipients of Old Age Pension may also qualify for Medicare Savings Program (MSP) benefits.
