- Healthy Eating, Active Living in Early Childhood
Healthy Eating, Active Living in Early Childhood (HEAL in EC) promotes healthy nutrition and physical activity where children and families live, learn, work and play in Jefferson County.
Being healthy and fit in adulthood is largely determined by the environments we live in as children. When children and families do not have access to healthy foods, safe environments that support physical activity, or opportunities to make healthier choices, their health and quality of life suffers. Childhood obesity is a serious public health concern and demands attention at all levels of society in multiple sectors, settings, and environments. Everyone has a role to play to ensure that all Jefferson County children are valued, healthy and thriving.
