Special Education
Jefferson County Head Start staff work as a team with each family to ensure that every child is provided with an inclusive and comprehensive learning environment. We partner with Jefferson County Public Schools Special Education and other community organizations to provide on-site services to children with special needs. A minimum of ten percent of enrolled children in the program are children with special needs.
Children with an identified need are screened and potentially evaluated by the Jefferson County Public Schools Special Education team. If a child qualifies for services, the child can receive occupational, physical, speech, and/or other services in the classroom and school.
Inclusion
We are inclusive of children with differences, and we provide as much assistance as possible to children in their classrooms. There are times when children may be pulled out for individualized work, but those times are limited.
Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)
If your child has an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), or if you have any concerns about their speech or development, please feel free to contact us to inquire about what services could look like for him/her in our school!!
