Our program is dedicated to engaging families at every step! We know that successful kids have involved families! Families are always welcome in our facilities - from classroom events and field trips to volunteering in every program area. In addition, we have a vibrant Fatherhood program, where we specifically engage dads and other father figures.
Our family engagement begins with the enrollment. At that time, families meet with their Family Support Specialist (FSS) to complete the enrollment paperwork and share information.
The Family Support Specialist takes time to get to know your child and family and shares information about our program such as curriculum, health, nutrition, events, safety, etc. Some other topics covered at that first meeting include information on their child’s class routine, and ways families can be involved in Head Start. Families are welcomed into the classroom at any time.
The FSS works with the entire family and is available for information and support throughout the year. They complete family visits to create a positive home/school connection and will explore family’s strengths and any areas of need. The FSS connects families to community resources to address any needs and provides referrals to outside agencies whenever necessary. The FSS also monitors children’s classroom attendance and maintains the child’s file, including health paperwork and immunization record.
