Birth registrations include baby's name, date of birth, father's name, mother's maiden name, and in the case of the earliest cards, the book and page number in which the birth was recorded. Death registrations list only the person's name, any nicknames used, date of death and sometimes book and page.
Birth records older than 100 yrs. are open to everyone unless the person is still alive. Birth records less than 100 yrs. old are available to immediate family only. Death records older than 75 yrs. are open to everyone. Death records less than 75 yrs. are open to immediate family. An immediate family member is defined as a parent; sibling; child by blood, adoption or marriage; spouse; grandparent or grandchild.
Because these cards are filed alphabetically rather than chronologically, these boxes cannot be accessed by the public. Names can only be looked up by the Archivist. (41 card file boxes)
Local Draft Board Records: WWI Inductions, 1918
Series 195 (1 Box)
Correspondence and telegrams between the Provost Marshall of Colorado and the Local Board for Jefferson County regarding allotments, calls for volunteers, induction lists, instructions and train schedules for movement of men to various military training camps during World War I. Induction lists include serviceman's name, order and serial numbers, home address, and name of camp entrained to during the war.
These lists are not records of the men who registered in Jefferson County for the WWI draft, nor are they lists of every man from the county who served in WWI. They are only lists of the men that Jefferson County was responsible for sending to US military camps as part of Colorado's federally-mandated quota for men to provide for federal military service.
