About the American Job Center
The American Job Center (AJC) serving Jefferson, Clear Creek and Gilpin counties is a member of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s statewide network of workforce centers, which provide a variety of no-cost services to job seekers and businesses.
Job Seeker Services
The AJC offers an array of tools to support local job-seekers, including offering resources and workshops for a self-directed job search, one-on-one employment counseling and training financial assistance. The AJC utilizes Connecting Colorado, an online database of statewide job openings and registered job-seekers, to facilitate the match between skilled workers and employers. Additionally, numerous free services are offered to individuals, ages 14 to 24, to support youth in obtaining their high school diploma, GED or post-secondary certificate or training.
The AJC provides free talent development services to employers in the metro Denver area to ensure that the region remains economically competitive and boasts a talent pipeline for current and future industry needs. The AJC is guided by the Workforce Development Board (WDB) comprised of local business and community leaders. The Youth Committee, an arm of the WDB, also focuses on youth employment, development and training in partnership with local school districts.
The AJC offers a variety of free workshops focusing on topics critical to job seekers, including resume writing, interviewing, social media and more. Participation is open to all Colorado residents, such as individuals who are unemployed, under-employed or looking to change careers.
