NOTICE: The October 2021 Shred-a-thon has been cancelled. We will see you in 2022.
The JCSO is proud to join with Metro Denver Crime Stoppers, Fox 31 / KDVR, Iron Mountain and other metro area law enforcement to help prevent identity theft by holding our annual Shred-a-thons at 3 law enforcement locations throughout the metro Denver area.
When and Where
The Shred-A-Thon usually takes place in May and October annually. You may bring documents by our Headquarters at 200 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden.
There will be no charge for the event, however, donations are encouraged and go directly to the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports local law enforcement agencies by offering cash awards to individuals who can help solve crime and submit tips through our tip line 720.913.STOP (7867). All tipsters remain anonymous.
Attendees SHOULD DO the following:
Each vehicle will be limited to up to three clean trash bags/bankers’ boxes of documents. Items containing personal and private information are ideal for drop-off. Remove binders or other non-paper contaminants. Paperclips, staples, and window envelopes are acceptable.
- Confidential documents and records
- Medical documents
- Bank information
- Tax documents
- Credit card statements
When You Arrive On-Site
Stay in your vehicle, but make sure that your trunk and back doors are unlocked and easy for volunteers to open quickly.
Boxes and bags should be easy to lift to keep our volunteers safe from lifting injuries. Boxes, bags, and transport containers will be given back to the attendees.
DO NOT Bring the following items:
- Hardcover books
- CD’s, DVD’s
- Hanging file folders
We look forward to another successful event!
