Prescribed Fire Planned at White Ranch Park
Jefferson County Open Space, in cooperation with the Colorado State Forest Service, have planned a prescribed burn of approximately 20 acres of meadow at White Ranch Park north of Golden, CO on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding around 4:00 p.m. The area to be treated is adjacent to the Park's west trailhead and temporary trail closures will be in effect along Rawhide Trail. |

Closure Continues at Mayhem Gulch Parking
Construction activities continue at the Open Space Mayhem Gulch Trailhead and Parking area along Highway 6 in Clear Creek Canyon. As a result, the parking area will not be available to visitors until February 2010, following the annual hunting closure from December 1 to January 31. |

Jeffco's White Ranch Park East Trailhead Closure Postponed to Friday
Jeffco's White Ranch Park East Trailhead Under Temporary Closure Jefferson County Open Space will implement a temporary closing of the east trailhead to White Ranch Park north of Golden, CO between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Friday, July 10, 2009 while weed management activities occur on adjacent private property. This temporary closure will involve the east trailhead of White Ranch Park (located 1.7 miles north of Golden to west 56th Avenue, and east one mile on Pine Ridge Road) and the Belcher Hill Trail. Access to the Belcher Hill Trail from the west will also be closed. |

Open Space Trailhead Construction at Mayhem Gulch Access - Project scheduled Mid-May to October 1, 2009
Jefferson County Open Space and contractor Concrete Express, Inc. will be constructing a formal trailhead adjacent to Colorado Highway 6 at Mayhem Gulch in the vicinity of highway marker 262. No parking will be allowed within the construction envelope including areas used as informal pull-outs. The project is expected to get underway in mid-May with completion anticipated by October 1, 2009. Highway 6 will remain open; however traffic in Clear Creek Canyon will experience occasional lane closures during the construction. |

Clear Creek Trail Bridge Replacement
Temporary Closure and Detour to Take Effect Beginning Monday, March 23, 2009 Jefferson County Open Space crews will be replacing the decking on a bridge along the Clear Creek Trail east of McIntyre Street. Temporary closures will occur between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekdays only. With the cooperation of the Coors Brewing Company, a detour will allow trail users to continue along the path paralleling Clear Creek and connecting Golden, Wheat Ridge and the larger Denver metro area trail system. Trail users are asked to be aware of detour/closure signs and comply with the biking dismount area for everyone's safety. Weather permitting, decking replacement should be completed by mid-April. Protesters Remove Sign from North Table Mountain Open Space
Jefferson County deputies and Open Space rangers were able to effect the removal of a large sign placed by a group of 60-65 anti-abortion protesters on the slope of North Table Mountain Open Space near Golden, Colorado this morning. The group has not been officially identified. |

The Park Management Plan Team, a representative group of professional Open Space staff, developed this concept plan following an October 24, 2006 open house, comment period, and multiple meetings with stakeholders. |

Trail Bridge Planned to Span Clear Creek
On Thursday, March 8, 2007 from 6-8 p.m., Jefferson County Open Space and consultants from Wenk Associates will make a public presentation regarding the first segment of the Clear Creek Canyon Park development, involving Grant Terry Park just west of Golden. The subject of this presentation is the placement of bridge crossing Clear Creek for trail users as well as providing public access to an existing undeveloped Open Space property on the south side of Clear Creek. The presentation will begin at 6:10 p.m. in the Ponderosa Hearing Room at the Open Space offices (700 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden). Participants will be able to ask questions following the presentation. |

Centennial Cone Park Closes December 1 for Hunting
Jefferson County Open Space will close Centennial Cone Park located north of Highway 6, between Robinson Hill and Douglas Mountain Roads, on December 1 for hunting. Hunters must have obtained valid Colorado Division of Wildlife Unit 38 licenses and Open Space issued access permits. The closure will be in effect until January 31, 2007. |

Campfires and Picnic Grills available to Open Space Park Visitors
With new temporary fire restrictions issued by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office effective July 7, 2006, Open Space Park visitors are now able to use the picnic area grills and campground fire rings. However, smoking in Open Space Parks continues to be restricted to enclosed vehicles or buildings, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area of at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all combustible material. |

White Ranch Open Space Park Remains Closed
White Ranch Open Space Park will remain closed today, Monday, June 19, 2006 for mop up activities by area firefighters. Approximately 30 acres of rugged forest land adjacent to the park burned over the weekend. A red flag warning will be in effect today at 12 noon, officials will assess the need for a continued closure. |
