Jefferson County is governed by a three member Board of County Commissioners, as mandated by the State Constitution. The commissioners are elected at large for four-year staggered terms, though they represent the district of the county in which they reside. Commissioner Bios >>
The commissioners provide leadership and vision in guiding Jefferson County government. They are charged with overseeing the organization and budgets of a wide variety of county programs to benefit citizens. Please view our organization chart (pdf).
The commissioners hold numerous meetings and public hearings to set policies and make decisions regarding land use, transportation, open space purchases, social service concerns, community development, law enforcement, libraries, public health and many other vital issues.
Meetings and Hearings
Regularly scheduled meetings are held at 8:00 a.m. on most Tuesdays in Hearing Room One of the Administration and Courts Facility.
Public comment is the first item on the agenda, a time when any citizen can bring up a concern about county matters.
Agendas are available in advance through this Web site or by calling 303-271-8512. They also are available to area newspapers.
The commissioners designated the glass enclosures outside of Hearing Room One of the Administration and Courts Facility, 100 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden as the location where official notices and agenda information for public meetings will be posted.
